Healing centre with

hope and homecare for all

Our Dialysis Centre stands as a beacon of care, offering a lifeline to those battling kidney ailments. It provides comfort and renewed hope to individuals in their journey towards health and recovery.

Dialysis is a treatment that helps to remove the waste chemicals that accumulate in the blood
of patients who are unable to excrete it on their own, due to kidney / renal failure. Since the
waste accumulation is continuous, dialysis must be repeated at regular intervals.

Costs of Dialysis

  • Of around 25000 people who are in need of Dialysis in Chennai, only 1238 are covered under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHS)

  • At private hospitals, the cost of this treatment is exceedingly high. A patient may require 3 sessions per week and each session costs around Rs 2500, that is, it costs a patient Rs 7500 per week or Rs 30000 a month.

  • Dialysis is a very costly treatment that cripples a normal man financially. It is only accessible to rich people or those who are eligible for full medical reimbursement.

  • Even though about 70-80% of them start the dialysis treatment, due to the high cost,

  • about two-thirds of them are forced to withdraw, resulting in death of the patient.

  • Most of these patients are young, bread winners of the family, they are in the prime of their lives and losing them has devastating impacts on their families.

Some undeniable facts of the renal disease in India:

  • India’s demand for dialysis is growing at a rate of 31% compared to other countries.

  • Most affected patients progress to End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD). It requires either kidney transplantation or lifelong dialysis which means this condition can never be reversed.

  • It is estimated that in India, about 200,000 new patients develop ESKD resulting in additional demand for 3.4 Crore dialysis every year.

  • Patients on dialysis have complications related to other organ systems - the main ones being cardiovascular disease, lack of production of red blood cells, and abnormal bone health.

  • They require regular monitoring by nephrologist, but we have only 1600 nephrologist in our entire country.

  • India also lacks well trained dialysis technicians and nurses to handle the growing need.

  • There are approximately 4950 dialysis centres largely in the private sector and cost associated with this treatment is growing day by day. At an average, it costs about 3 to 4 lakhs per patient annually.

  • With the existing infrastructure in India, the growing demand is less than half met.

Born out of a shared vision to address the escalating healthcare crisis and rising instances of kidney
diseases in Chennai, a group of passionate individuals united to make a meaningful impact. The
collective commitment to instill hope, offer healing, and provide compassionate home care led to the
establishment of Wings of Victory Dialysis Centre in 2023
